One of the best places to see the Andean Condor flying majestically, is the Colorado´s viewpoint in Cajón del Maipo. This viewpoint is at located just one hour to Santiago and these huge birds fly really close by!
The path is medium intensity, you must walk slowly 3 hours to reach the magnificent viewpoint. While walking you can observe beautiful landscapes, flora and fauna typical of the Andes Mountains. You will always feel very well accompanied by our local guides, who know a lot about the area.
The Mirador de Cóndores hiking trail is located very close to Santiago in the Colorado River Canyon. This Hiking is along an attractive path that takes us Condor Canyon, a viewpoint in the upper area of large rocky farellones, which owes its name to that in this place you will have a very high probability of being able to spot condors, the non-marine bird largest in the world.
The Mirador de Cóndores is a magical place, since it is a rocky conformation that allows us to have a spectacular panoramic view of the Andes Mountains, where you can photograph the condors from a very short distance.
We will leave Santiago towards Cajón del Maipo, a mountain area par excellence. We will continue our tour while we observe great mountains until we reach a special viewpoint of the Andes mountain range, where we will have an energetic and delicious breakfast.
Our hike will do you through the valley of Colorado river which allows incredible views of the Andes and mainly to the Mirador de los Cóndores, a place where it is practically guaranteed to be able to observe condors from close proximity. This view point is located directly above an enormous cliff where many of the “king of the Andes” are nesting.
After about 3 hours of walking, we will arrive at a large plain to observe the mountain range, condors in flight and enjoy a delicious picnic and Chilean wine.
Around 4:00 p.m. we will begin our return to Santiago.
The main attractions are: Condors view point, Tupungato Volcano, typical flora and fauna.
